This comes from the famous big calcite vein pocket at Aiguille Verte found by Frederic Eva, Michael Bibollet and Christophe Lelievre about 2008.

The piece was published on p.246 of Volume 40 of The Mineralogical Record; it has undergone some trimming since that photo was taken.
