Classic old specimen from Rhode Island with purple crystals of quartz, the variety known as an amethyst, gemmy and measuring to 3.0 cm across on a matrix of milky white crystallized quartz. The color of the amethyst is as deep and rich as has been found at the site. There is some damage to the tips of some of the amethysts, especially the largest crystal, but because of the depth of purple color this is not immediately obvious and does not detract for the aesthetics of the specimen. The deep purple against the porcelain white make this a very beautiful specimen.
