This is a gorgeous miniature combination specimen consisting of a hair-like spray of millerite with quartz crystals from Illinois! It features a sliver of a geode that hosts a perfect spray of 2 cm, brassy, divergent, wispy millerite crystals that diverge from almost a point-source centered in a cluster of numerous, milky white quartz crystals from 2 to 4 mm in size. It's an aesthetic and impressive millerite to be sure! Several of the the limestone quarries of western Illinois have produced millerite including the O'Neil Quarry where this fine piece originates. These came out in the mid- to late 1900s and unfortunately most of these quarries are closed and it is not possible to collect any longer.
