Fluorite, Quartz from China, Inner Mongolia, Huanggang Mine

The Huanggang mines in Inner Mongolia in northern China have been producing large numbers of wonderful specimens over the last decade or so. Perhaps one of the more interesting things to come out of the Huanggang mines were these unusual specimens of quartz crystals completely covered in inky-blue fluorite crystals. This 10.9 cm example is particularly nice, with two quartz crystals side by side, both hidden inside the fluorite crystal coverings. These specimens require strong lighting to show their color, but they are beautiful and unique.
