The locality, nestled in the Sierra de Alcarama near the village of Navajún, is renowned globally for producing the world’s most geometrically perfect pyrite cubes. These remarkable crystals formed in marlstone shales dating back to the Early Cretaceous, approximately 120 million years ago. During this period, iron-rich hydrothermal fluids percolated through organic-rich sedimentary rocks, initiating slow crystal growth within stable cavities under near-ideal geochemical conditions. The result: pyrite crystals so mathematically perfect and lustrous they appear machined.

Composed of lustrous, razor-edged pyrite cubes arranged in an impossibly balanced vertical stack, the specimen seems to defy gravity while preserving flawless symmetry and proportion.
