Quartz epimorph after Fluorite with Sphalerite and Siderite

Unknown Owner
Small, but perfectly formed. That is what this lovely Quartz epimorph after Fluorite is, from the classic northern English locality - Rampgill mine, Nenthead, Alston Moor District, Cumbria. Like a small bowl, the concave surface features individual cubic epimorphs of white sugary Quartz after Fluorite, up to 1.7 cm on edge. Sparse glossy black microcrystals of Sphalerite are scattered inside the epimorphs. On the outside, a thin layer of dark brown Siderite encrusts the whole surface. Ex Malcolm Southwood collection, no. MS 2015.009, and ex Lindsay and Patricia Greenbank collections (LG.707 and PG.137).
