A nice aesthetic combination of watermelon tourmaline with a quartz crystal. This one stood out to me due to the nice aesthetic balance between the tourmaline and quartz. A fine example from the Sapo mine, although not from the "iconic" pocket found around 1998. Ex. Guido Steger collection.
Steger visited Brazil dozens of times over the span of a few decades in search of collectible mineral specimens, his memoirs can be found in a few different Mineralogical Record issues. They are a fascinating glimpse into a bygone era of specimen mining, production, and adventure. Dimensions approximate, some professional restoration work on the tourmaline to fix some edge chipping. Includes custom made clutch mount base.
