Fluorite

Joe Larkin Granite Quarry, Shannapheasteen, County Galway, Ireland

5x5.4x3.8cm

Undamaged single cube from this famous European fluorite locality. One of the best specimens I have seen from this locality and my personal favorite. This piece has great color, with uniform etching and undamaged corners. A bright specimen with internal rainbow refraction and a deep, dark blue core.

This locality is currently not producing specimens, as the quarry is not operating, due to a multiple year surplus of granite. The Fluorite is a secondary mineral found in commercial granite mining. At this time collection of specimens there is prohibited and most likely will remain this way until commercial production resumes.

Comes with a custom milled Sunnywood acrylic base for display.

Comes with a laminated identification card.
