Kaolinite ps. after Orthoclase
Unknown Owner
Known colloquially as "pigs eggs" these pseudomorphs of Kaolinite after Orthoclase crystals were found occasionally within the China Clay pits in Cornwall. This one, from Goonbarrow China Clay Pit, near Bugle in the St. Austell District, displays a textbook twinned Orthoclase crystal with a third smaller crystal cutting across the twins. The edges of the crystals are very well defined - usually these crystals are quite rounded - and the crystals are of an excellent size, at 5.7 cm in length. It would look perfect alongside a wooden crystal model showing this textbook twinning in Orthoclase.
