Description
The distinct species Zincolivenite was officially approved in 2006 and describes the middle percentile range within the solid solution series between Olivenite and Adamite. In the past, specimens within this range were labelled either zinc-olivenite or cuproadamite. This fine miniature is from the Tsumeb mine in Namibia and displays a roughly 5 x 2 cm area of elongated, octahedral Zincolivenite crystals with the appearance of peppermint green Adamite. These crystals richly cover a characteristic Tsumeb matrix of light grey granular dolomitic county rock with flecks of pale pink. A great miniature of well crystallised Zincolivenite from Tsumeb. See the excellent article by Malcolm Southwood, Martin Števko and Paul F. Carr, (2020), Tsumeb: Zincolivenite and the Adamite-Olivenite series in Rocks & Minerals: Vol. 95 No. 3, pp. 210-233.
