A well-documented miniature of Phosgenite in Galena, tracing its provenance back to the Rev. Dr Thomas Wiltshire (1826-1902) from its type locality at Bage mine at Cromford in Derbyshire, England. Phosgenite is a lead chlorocarbonate and was originally named Cromfordite. The specimen has a single, all be it incomplete, crystal in a cavity in Galena with grey-black micro-crystals of Cerussite. The Phosgenite crystal measures to 2 cm and is a dirty lemon yellow with a semi-glassy to greasy lustre. It is typical of Phosgenite from this locality and is one of the “must have” rarer minerals of the British Isles.
