Beautiful bright well crystallized grouping of octahedral gold 2.1 cm in height coming off a white quartz matrix. This is in great condition. Aouint Ighoman, located in the Assa-Zag province of the Guelmim-Oued Noun region in southwestern Morocco, is a remote desert area with a rich history tied to ancient caravan trails and nomadic Saharan communities. Geologically, the region is situated near the margins of the West African Craton, featuring rugged rocky terrain and ancient basement formations crossed by desert weathering and structural faults. Mineralogically, the locality gained international attention recently due to remarkable discoveries of native gold specimens. These mineral finds typically occur in quartz veins, producing highly coveted crystal clusters characterized by brilliant spinel twins and curved wire shapes often accompanied by minor calcite, quartz, and iron oxide coatings.
