Titanite
A terrific cabinet specimen composed of lustrous glassy lime-green Titanite crystals scattered over a strongly foliated matrix of sub-mm, snow-white Adularia crystals. This lovely specimen is from the picturesque area around Untersulzbachtal in the Hohe Tauern National Park near Salzburg, Austria. The Adularia crystals, a variety of Orthoclase, form a very porous yet strong matrix. The Adularia is speckled with micro, worm-like dusky olive-green Clinochlore crystals with a dull, earthy lustre. The Titanite crystals measure to 1.5 x 1.0 x 0.5 cm, are nicely terminated, translucent lime-green and have a bright lustre with the odd crystal appearing greasy. A great display specimen with a previous collector’s label.
