Brucite
The magnesium hydroxide mineral Brucite forms a plate of well-developed crystals up to about 5 mm from Woods mine at Texas in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, USA. Known also as Wood's Chrome mine and Wood Chromite mine it was, as the name implies, a chromium mine and like so many localities now, collecting there was ended in 2012. The Brucite forms pale peppermint to creamy apple green crystals whose translucency and combination of pale colours has the effect of blurring them into a continuous mat of crystals across the creamy-white matrix; either this or I require new glasses. A great small cabinet specimen of what is a relatively seldom seen species.
