A borax matrix is host to a single octahedron of matte luster, translucent, tan colored Sulphohalite crystal measuring 1.7 cm in length. In places the borax has started its inevitable, chalky white, alteration to the related species, tincalconite. An attractive and unusual combination piece - like several in the Ordway stash here, collected long ago and practically unheard of in such matrix-bound quality.
