Hureaulite
The Hagendorf pegmatites are known for their suite of phosphate minerals, Hureaulite among them. Most often, Hureaulite is found as microcrystals at Hagendorf. What makes this thumbnail truly exceptional is that the main, flesh-toned Hureaulite is 1.8 cm long! This cluster is both huge and rich for the locality, and it is pretty as well. With good color, good luster, translucency, and sheer crystal size, this thumbnail carries itself with it the impact and significance of a much larger piece. A long held treasure of Kay's collection, this was also featured in the 2007 Mineralogical Record article on her. Acquired in Europe in 1964. An important miniature of this very rare species, and among the largest ever found in Europe (or anywhere for that matter) for crystals of this species.Featured in the book Collecting Classics: The Legacy of Kay Robertson (Mineralogical Record, May 2025) on page 52.
