Thaumasite
Thaumasite is one of the accessory mineral species found, rarely, with rhodochrosite at N'Chwaning - obviously not so famous but none the less desirable. It occurs in classic hexagonal crystals such as this, but almost never in such size. A 1 cm crystal would be large - this is an inch tall, 2.4 cm! This specimen is glassy and gemmy and has a faint pastel color that is somewhere between yellow and pale green in hue. This is one of the rarest species to obtain in gem crystal form, and the size makes this simply shocking at first glance, and would be a puzzle for most people to identify. That is EXACTLY the kind of full sized display thumbnail you would want in a competitive exhibition case. Additionally, this crystal is so huge and so gemmy, that it would yield a rather large stone for faceting, possibly at or among largest cut gem of the species - although that would be a tragedy to see happen if we do not sell it first to a collector. Crystals like this rank near top of species in any size, barring only a possible few specimens in major collections. As a thumbnail, it cannot be bigger or it would not fit in the box.
