This very elongated prismatic terminated colourless, Rock Crystal-type Quartz crystal with a parallel crystal attached to one side rises at a shallow angle from a bed, or vein of Quartz from Schin Gorge, near Thusis in Hinterrhein Valley, Grischun, Switzerland. Schin Gorge is perhaps best known for Chlorite-included Quartz phantoms, but this 12 cm long glassy crystal is an impressive example of pure alpine-type Rock Crystal. Although its cumbersome size means that it doesn't sit perfectly for display, with support this will make a very fine addition to an alpine suite, especially with two other smaller terminated crystals seen crossing the main prism.
