Originally labelled as "Smaltite" which is now considered to be a arsenic-deficient variety of Skutterudite, this older, small cabinet-sized specimen from Schneeberg in Saxony, Germany is remarkably well crystallized. Upon it a finely crystallized Quartz surface is liberally scattered with sharp, well-formed silvery cubes of Skutterudite, many of which display truncated corners. The largest of these cubes reaches 5 mm on edge which is quite a good size for viewing this rarer species. Ex Francis Coune Collection (Belgium).
