Reddish-brown masses of muirite to 1.3 cm in size embedded throughout a matrix with grayish masses of sanbornite and celsian. Good example for this rare mineral. The specimen comes with several previous collection labels, one from Donald Cooke and the other from Eric Laskowski.Located near Wilson Lake in the Watson Lake mining district of the Yukon Territory, Canada, the Gun claim is famous for hosting a rare, low-temperature barium-rich skarn deposit embedded within Devonian strata. Discovered and explored for its unique mineralogy rather than large-scale industrial mining, the remote locality became celebrated among mineral collectors and researchers for its exceptional assemblage of unusual barium-bearing minerals. Among these mineralogical treasures is muirite, an uncommon complex silicate that occurs here as distinct grains enclosed within masses of sanbornite. Because of its extreme isolation and rugged terrain, the site has primarily attracted dedicated mineral prospectors and scientific researchers studying advanced metamorphic and hydrothermal processes.
