Individually reaching almost 5 cm across, these opaque white Analcime crystals are simply colossal in size, and form a very rich crystal cluster. They come from Rio Fromm (Frommer Lahn), in Gardena Valley, Bolzano Province, a famous old-time alpine locality in Trentino-Alto Adige, north-east Italy. Found within Triassic-age basalts, these are some of the most spectacular Analcimes from Europe, not in terms of gemminess, but overall size. There are some patches of an unidentified pink bladed mineral included and on the surface of some of the Analcime crystals and some patches of basalt underneath the main crystals. It is from the superb systematic collection assembled by the brothers Martin and Michael Günther (1951-2007 & 1956-2021).
