Showing the rarer, flat-topped, chunky, ribbed prismatic habit of Mawi Pegmatite tourmaline, from Afghanistan, this delightful, big, bold, 12 cm tall, pink Elbaite tourmaline requires support for display but really responds well to directional lighting. Scattered around its lower prism sides are many smaller pink Elbaite crystals interspersed with small paler pink, pearlescent 'books' of platy Lepidolite mica crystals and a little feldspar too. Viewed front on the main crystal looks really fine indeed and makes a very fine larger display. It is not transparent, but has excellent translucency with a lovely pink glow.
