At 2.9 cm tall, this individual off-matrix gemmy pink Elbaite tourmaline is certainly very pretty. It comes from the modern discoveries at Coronel Murta in Minas Gerais state, Brazil and shows nice zonation in colour along its length from strawberry orange near its base, to pink lemonade through much of its centre then pale pink in its upper third, with a thin intense raspberry-red tip. Inclusion-rich throughout, it is still very glassy and bright with great translucency. Its upper termination is a smooth, glassy, flat pinacoid face but is narrower than its base, its upper third being offset as a narrower prism from where another (missing) crystal appears to have passed across it from one side. It is nevertheless, a very pretty individual Elbaite tourmaline for the price.
