Very fine large multi-generation example for the species, the first generation sort of brownish in color, lustrous and translucent. The second generation is very rich across the top and pick tabular glassy gemmy colorless crystals of barite, these measuring to 3.5 cm on edge. This is in terrific condition. The specimen comes with a previous label from the collection of Jan Erik Larsen. Said to be an old example and not from recent times. The M'rirt area, located in the Khenifra region of Morocco's Middle Atlas belt, features rich hydrothermal vein deposits hosted within Paleozoic sedimentary rocks, primarily limestone and shale. Mineral collectors and commercial mining operations have long extracted high-quality minerals from these veins, with the region gaining international recognition for producing striking barite specimens. Collectors particularly prize the locality for its dramatic, well-crystallized tabular barite formations, which often range in color from clear and white to rich amber hues, frequently associated with copper and iron mineralization.
