The front side of this matrix is mostly covered by yellow green radiating flat lying crystal groupings of wavellite. In great condition. The specimen comes with a previous label from the collection of Jack Nieburger.Located in the Central Bohemia Region of the Czech Republic near Horovice, the Trenice Quarry is a classic, historical European mineral locality situated within early Paleozoic sedimentary formations. The geology of the site features lower Ordovician sandstone, quartzite, and siltstone beds that have undergone regional fracturing and secondary alteration. Quarrying operations originally extracted sandstone and silica-rich rock for construction, but the locality gained historical fame among nineteenth-century collectors and mineralogists for producing outstanding specimens of wavellite. At Trenice, this hydrated aluminum phosphate mineral occurs inside rock fractures and cavities, forming classic, colorless to pale green or whitish radial aggregates, hemispherical coatings, and sunburst-like spherical clusters that remain prized in museum collections worldwide.
