The world's finest examples of Jeremejevite, a rare gem borate, come from two localities in the Erongo Region of Namibia, and one older locality near the ocean with subtly different crystal shapes. This style, from one of the finds in the early 2000's, is a lovely parallel pair of conjoined crystals from the Ameib Farm 60. GEMMY through and through, the colors are beautiful. The majority of the glassy crystals are a light lavender/cornflower blue. Within the crystals are mm-size, opaque puffballs that are a lighter, more intense cornflower blue that make an immediate visual impact with the contrasts in shade and form. There is also an attached cluster of subhedral Foitites (a tourmaline variety) that adds greatly to the mineralogical interest and overall appearance. Like many of the Jeremejevites, there is etching on the crystals. Some of the prism faces have it, to aesthetic effect, and the floater crystals were doubly terminated, with one end more highly etched than the other. This is a beautiful example of this highly desirable gem, made even more so by the pairing of the crystals and the unusual inclusions and association. The mass of this miniature is 6.65 g. Displays well either horizontally or vertically.
