Fluorite from Yaogangxian Mine, Hunan, China

This is a highly aesthetic Fluorite specimen from the famous Yaogangxian Mine in Hunan, China, featuring distinctive skeletal Quartz as the matrix. The specimen is dominated by pale mint-green to icy-blue Fluorite crystals with excellent transparency and a soft, delicate colour. The larger Fluorite crystals show sharp, geometric forms and strong lustre, creating an attractive contrast with the lighter Quartz beneath.

The Fluorite is beautifully positioned on a remarkable skeletal Quartz formation, with the open, stepped growth of the Quartz creating an unusual and highly three-dimensional base. The combination of translucent Fluorite and skeletal Quartz gives the specimen an almost architectural appearance, with numerous natural crystal surfaces catching and reflecting the light.

The subtle green colour of the Fluorite, together with the white to translucent Quartz matrix, makes this a particularly elegant example of the mineralisation associated with Yaogangxian.
