Twinned Amethyst quartz and Scepter

Dimensions: 6.6 x 5.3 x 13.3cm Locality: Marovoalavo, Andilamena, Madagascar The Andilamena quarries in the Andranotokana Massif came to prominence in the early 2000s for their Japan-law twinned quartz. Around 2011, the Marovoalavo mine produced an even rarer habit: amethyst scepters, sometimes twinned and often dusted with goethite. This specimen combines both hallmarks of the locality — twin and scepter — on a single piece, with small sparkling black goethites on the surface. At 13.3 cm tall, it stands apart from the usual scale: most Marovoalavo scepter–twin combinations remain thumbnails or small miniatures of 2 to 7 cm. The faintly amethystine tips highlight the sceptered portions and give the specimen a very fine aesthetic. An exceptional and spectacular example of this great Malagasy classic. Dimensions without the acrylic base, which is supplied with the mineralogical specimen. The mineral is not glued to the base (flexible sealant).
