Fluorite from UK, England, Rookhope, Frazer's Hush Mine
An attractive Weardale combination specimen featuring pale grey to colourless fluorite crystals richly coated with sparkling drusy quartz. The fluorite occurs as sharp cubic crystals with well-defined faces and stepped growth features, partially visible beneath a blanket of glittering microcrystalline quartz that adds exceptional texture and brilliance to the piece.
Prominent metallic galena crystals nestle amongst the fluorite and quartz, displaying the bright lead-grey lustre and characteristic cubic cleavage for which the species is known. The contrast between the reflective galena, sparkling quartz druse, and translucent fluorite creates a visually striking mineral association typical of the Northern Pennine Orefield.
A classic association from the famous Frazer's Hush Mine and an excellent representative example of Weardale mineralisation.
