The complex purple zoning is the standout feature of these 2 cm, gemmy twins. Magnification reveals layers of curved zones in shifting shades of purple. The zones are also daylight fluorescent, which gives the fluorite a stronger purple tone outdoors. Heights Quarry is one of the only Weardale localities to produce true colourless fluorites - fluorite's natural colour when it is free of impurities or defects. This specimen is notable for previously being in the personal fluorite collection of Peter Briscoe, collection No. LP7.
