Hematite from Novo Horizonte, Bahia, Brazil

This Hematite with Rutile specimen comes from Novo Horizonte in Bahia, Brazil, a locality noted for producing metallic hematite with rutile inclusions. This Hematite with Rutile specimen shows a striking architectural interplay between sharply reflective hematite faces and fine rutile inclusions woven throughout the crystal. The hematite forms bold, metallic plates with mirror‑like luster, creating a strong geometric framework that defines the piece’s overall structure. Within and across these surfaces, rutile appears as delicate golden needles, emerging in coordinated orientations that follow the internal growth pathways of the hematite.

The rutile is not simply resting on the surface — it is fully integrated into the hematite’s formation, revealing a complex intergrowth process where both minerals developed together under shifting geological conditions. This creates a dynamic contrast between the cool, steel‑gray hematite and the warm, golden rutile, giving the specimen depth, movement, and mineralogical character. The crisp faces, reflective sheen, and embedded rutile make this a refined example of the classic Brazilian association, suitable for collectors who appreciate structural clarity and high‑quality metallic luster.
