An attractive grouping of glassy translucent elbaite crystals on a crystal grouping of muscovite with minor albite. Complete all around and in good condition. Nice color on this oneThe pegmatites of Minas Gerais, Brazil, are world-renowned for their complex geology and rich history of gem and mineral production. Geologically, these granitic pegmatites formed during the Brasiliano orogeny in the Neoproterozoic to early Paleozoic eras, when volatile-rich magmas intruded into older metamorphic rocks. The slow cooling and high volatile content allowed for extreme fractional crystallization, creating zoned pegmatite bodies that host magnificent crystals of gemstones like tourmaline, aquamarine, spodumene, and topaz, alongside rare phosphate and accessory minerals. Historically, artisanal and commercial mining in the region began during the colonial era in the eighteenth century with gold and diamond discoveries, later shifting toward extensive pegmatite mining that continues to supply fine mineral specimens and gem-quality material to collectors and markets worldwide.
