Quite frankly, I first found this piece hard to believe when it was shown to me by a friend who purchased it for his collection at the time, covered with mine dirt and not cleaned, with the attribution from Colorado. I assumed it must be Brazilian, or somewhere strange, but mislabelled! The USA had never produced blue euclase, much less in competitive thumbnail specimens with large gemmy crystals. And, yet, it turns out that it was self-collected by well-known field collector Austin Cockell on September 29th of 2022. He verified this and gave us a label. So there it is - surely the finest American-origin blue euclase; and a significant Colorado euclase as well. The color on this is a strong pastel blue - not pale, that really stands out in a showcase. While there are many blue euclase from Colombia, this is the only high level example we know of from Colorado, and it happens to be competitive quality.
