Rhodochrosite & Fluorite and Quartz
This is a unusual combo found in 1976 from Sweet Home Mine, a well-known legendary place that produced cherry-red, world-class rhodochrosite crystals. This district is officially closed this year and everything found here is a piece of history.
Before I got my core SH rhodo collection (please see my pervious post), I was lucky enough to get a few OLD finds that were found before Collector's Edge periods in the 1990s. This is one of them. Shape rhombic dodecahedron fluorite crystals with a doubly terminated quartz crystal perched on rhodochrosites. Few quartz xls also penetrate the rhodo. Fluorite usually is not the major of SH specimens as they are more famous for rhodos, and other associations are add-ups, however, this shows rhodochrosite can also be a beautiful matrix for fluorite lol, if it is well balanced and cute enough.
