Compared to the nearby Silverband mine, specimens of Baryte from Closehouse mine are so rarely seen. This magnificent 13 cm long flat, tabular crystal is absolutely superb and stands upright without support on a cleavage surface across its base. Acquired by Lindsay Greenbank in 1971, it has very little noticeable wear or damage for its age and with a pale cream colour and good transparency/translucency looks really bright. Two smaller crystals sit parallel alongside the main crystal at its base, giving it a nice balance. Ex Dr. Stephen Crook Collection and ex Lindsay Greenbank Collection, no. LG.37, with an original Greenbank label accompanying it.
