Precious Opal limb cast after petrified wood from Virgin Valley, Nevada. 1.5 inches across. Dry specimen. Also called "wood opal" by some of the locals; there are very small areas in this piece where there is "petrified" wood that appears to be more carbon than silica. ex Christopher Wentzell collection.
