Fluorite from Greece, Attica, Lavrion Mining District

Fluorite from the Laurion (Lavrion) Mining District in Greece is a prized "classic" for mineral collectors. While the region is most famous for its 3,000-year history of silver and lead mining—which funded the Golden Age of Athens—it is also a geological marvel that has produced over 600 different mineral species. This specimen hosts Fluorites with the classic "Laurion-blue" colour on matrix, the crystals have a matte finish to them. All around a nice specimen from a renowned locality.
