Hedyphane on Dolomite
Tsumeb Mine, Tsumeb, Oshikoto Region, Namibia
4.3 x 3.5 x 3.0cm
A genuinely scarce species from Tsumeb.
Hedyphane is a calcium-lead arsenate which is remarkably underrepresented in even dedicated
Tsumeb collections.
This miniature displays stalactitic crystal aggregates up to 2 cm, with the characteristic creamy-tan coloration and bright glassy lustre that makes well-crystalized Hedyphane so distinctive. The composite crystals have a satisfying spiky, botryoidal texture and sit across a grey-pink Dolomitic matrix that provides good contrast without competing with the main mineral.
