Halite, 7 cm, from the Dead Sea, Israel. This specimen is from the lowest place on earth and has cubic halite crystals surrounding a rounded rock, where the halite crystals formed covering the rock. I found this specimen partially submerged on the beach shoreline at Ein Bokek, at the southern end of the sea. This remarkable specimen was sadly ruined during a move where it was stored in high humidity.
