Quartz with pyrite, the two most iconic Spruce Ridge, King County, Washington specimens, “Two Cubes, One Scepter” (7 cm right) and “Excalibur” (8 cm left), were collected from one small clay-filled vug in 1984. Other than a handful of doubly-terminated quartz crystals, the vug produced nothing else. For years these two pieces anchored the top shelf of my display case.
