Elbaite with lepidolite (unrepaired), 13.7 cm, from the Keke Pocket, Pederneira mine, São José da Safira, Minas Gerais, Brazil. Most unrepaired tourmaline crystals survived intact because of their girth, but this rare, pencil-thin crystal was recovered unbroken, with no need for repair or reconstruction. Private collection, ex Daniel Trinchillo. Tom Spann photo. Reference: Pezzotta et al. (2015).
