Rhodochrosite from South Africa, Northern Cape, N'Chwaning Mines, N'Chwaning I Mine

A miniature crystal cluster of Rhodochrosite from the historic N’Chwaning I Mine in South Africa’s Kalahari manganese belt. Specimens from this locality largely entered collections decades ago, during intensive recovery efforts around the turn of the 1980s, when many pieces were extracted quickly and often show natural cleave marks at the terminations.
A jewel-like small format piece that reflects the bold color and classic crystal habit the locality is admired for, preserved in a naturally appealing crystal composition.
The photo is taken with an 100MM macro lens and pedestal and background are removed
