Fluorite on Quartz with Pyrite Purple Window Pocket, Yaogangxian Mine, Yaogangxian W-Sn ore field, Yizhang Co., Chenzhou, Hunan, China

A vibrant Fluorite specimen originating from a celebrated crystal pocket in southern China, often nicknamed for its wintry aesthetic. The piece features well-defined cubic crystals with a smooth, bright luster and a clean purple coloration that shifts from transparent at the edges to gently frosted in the centers. The crystals rest on a textured quartz matrix made of countless tiny intergrown points, creating a shimmering, snow-like visual effect when light moves across the surface.

Across the formation, faint metallic accents appear as very small pyrite remnants embedded within the quartz base. These occur only as light surface traces and minor inclusions, offering subtle contrast without dominating the composition. Additional minute pyrite grains are also present in localized spots, confirming its origin from this specific pocket.

The specimen has an overall dimension of 9.5 × 5.5 cm and weighs 138 g (138 grams / 0.138 kg).

This piece carries a natural balance—intense crystal presence, airy matrix texture, and refined metallic hints—making it a charming example from a storied find, capturing the atmosphere of violet crystals settled on fresh mountain frost.
