Mottramite with Red Calcite (Minium included)
Tsumeb Mine, Tsumeb, Oshikoto Region,
Namibia
4.3 × 3.5 x 3cm
Alan Fertel Personal Collection
This is a really stunning Tsumeb combo specimen featuring Minium included Calcite on botryoidal Mottramite. The Mottramite is a dark rich green, displaying great luster and texture.
The red pigment in the Calcite is a result of included Minium, a rare lead tetroxide. The red hombs of Calcite contrast nicely with the deep velvety, green balls of Mottramite. While Mottramite is a common mineral from Tsumeb, Minium included Calcite is quite rare. Together they make for a highly aesthetic display piece!
