At the molecular level, Pyrite, especially Navajún pyrite, loves to form as cubes, being that it is an isometric mineral with its iron and sulphur molecules arranging themselves accordingly. However, once in every few thousand specimens, you'll find a Spanish Pyrite that has been modified by way of lengthening down one axis, so that it becomes an elongated rectangular prism. It's a fun and unique change from the usual Navajún material, while still keeping the signature sharpness and smooth crystal structure.
