Malachite pseudomorph after Azurite
This wreath of Malachite is a very sharp and defined example of Milpillas Mine's most famous pseudomorph, which features Malachite replacing large Azurite crystals, many of which in this specimen appear to be doubly-terminated. The spear-like crystals all have a velvet luster from the microcrystalline fibrous Malachite. One notable feature that the base doesn't mention is the very obvious deposits of either Shattuckite or Plancheite that run through the specimen- Plancheite seems to be the more likely of the two, as Milpillas Shattuckite tends to be a bit darker, and is usually included in Quartz. The sky blue color is beautiful against the green, and the soft luster matches well. This specimen comes with a custom acrylic base.
