A flat-out rarity for both Tsumeb and the world, this fine thumbnail represents the one great pocket, possibly dating to the 1980s, of Tsumeb Schneiderhöhnite. An iron arsenate, Schneiderhöhnite is usually seen for sale as little 2-5mm crystals on ugly ore matrix. This thumbnail has crystals that are 5-6 mm, large for the species but on the smaller end of this standard-setting pocket. The crystals are euhedral and lustrous, and they form an attractive cluster that views well from multiple angles. It is, simply, a choice thumbnail both for species and aesthetics. TYPE LOCALITY and the only locality for superb larger crystals of this species. Dr. Erika Pohl-Ströher - 38176.
