Bright blue, aesthetic, well formed and glassy azurite crystals richly covering matrix. I particularly like the uniform size of the crystals on this piece as well as the relief from the matrix--which is more evident in person. The crystals in the main field are growing in a loose rosette/spiraling /propeller like formation that draws the eye and serves as a very nice focal point. I feel this specimen can display equally well horizontally or vertically and the condition overall is excellent. I looked very closely to note any damage--I found only 2 small areas along the far outside perimeter of the piece that I would consider pocket contact. As far as the main field of crystals I see only 2 crystals with micro chips that are so small it is hard to tell if they are indeed chips or just natural growth features--though I have factored this into the price as if they were chips. Overall, for Milpillas, I would consider the condition to be very near to "as good as it gets." Beautiful specimen from a beautiful locality for the species.
