Tellurium
S
Tellurium rarely forms good crystals and this is a sharp, single crystal of the rare gold silver telluride from the Emperor Mine on the island of Fiji. This thumbnail single of this precious metal species has an incredibly bright, silver metallic luster and exhibits skeletal growth along its length with a spear-point termination. This is one of the best single crystals of tellurium we've seen for sheer perfection and quality. It is 3-dimensional, not flat as are so many that came out of here, and honestly looks so sharp and shiny it could be a fake silver - but it is indeed a real tellurium! This small but productive gold mine has been in nearly continuous production since 1935 and has yielded sporadic, but notable tellurium and associated sylvanite crystals over its history.

This crystal was first offered as a sylvanite. It went under further analysis, which came back as tellurium. Asked if i still wanted to acquire, i didn't hesitate in taking it. It is an incredible crystal. | ||
