Charoite with Tinaksite and Aegirine
1
Large unpolished charoite chunk with golden yellow tinaksite crystals forming a V shape and a black aegirine "sun" in between. Charoite only comes from Russia which makes owning one of these very attractive for me. Tinaksite and charoite were discovered in 1965 and 1978 in the Murunskii Massif. The complex silicate charoite turned out to be a beautiful lapidary stone and a short-lived commercial production of it was started soon after its discovery. In the mid 90s it was shut down due to insufficient demand and costly export. The still very large deposit is now waiting for someone to rediscover this beautiful purple stone again. I really wanted one of those for a long time because I love purple minerals.
